This book is a combination of two novels: The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, both written by Khaled Hosseini.
It is a design that a book is inside another. The contents grow and affect another along with the narrative development. Both of these novels centered on two people’s relationship, and share the same social and cultural background.
This piece of design is composed of three parts:
The first part of this book starts from the kite runner, which is a small format and classical layout; With the development of the main characters get to know each other, the second part of this book changes format with both novels, the kite runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. The layout design is in a more separated way and continue the physical restrict from the small physical format; Along with the main character’s fate interact with each other and the conflict with social and cultural background, the third part of this book is the two layouts influenced with each other and no longer be extended the restriction from the physical format before. The common key words of one novel is highlighted by the second one’s font and line-space.
